Homeless Prevention
Homeless Prevention services can enable families on the brink of homelessness to stay in their homes and those at risk of losing utilities to keep the lights and heat on. We provide payments to landlords or utility companies for an average of 150 families in Pierce County annually. The following are program eligibility requirements:
- Pierce County resident
- at least one child 17 or younger living in the home
- either official 3-day-pay-or-vacate notice (rental assistance)
- OR official utility shut-off notice (utility assistance)
- low income
- completion of our life-skills class on budgeting and energy conservation
Calls are taken once a week and awards are given on a first-come-first-served basis. All payments are released to landlords or utility company upon completion of the mandatory life-skills class.
Drop-In’s: Please note that drop-in’s are not accepted for Homeless Prevention funding, but must access through the phone line. Thank you!
