Michael is a single father with three young girls who, not too long ago, had a steady income of $60,000 a year. One day he went to work and was laid off. He was having a tough time finding a new job and his savings were running low. In need of some help, he called Helping Hand House asking for rental assistance. We were able to help with a portion of his rent, and he was able to take care of the rest.
He located a job at the local college, but wouldn't get paid for a couple weeks and now had a disconnection notice for his electric bill. He called us again and we were able to to pay the entire portion of the bill.
A short time ago, Michael called us to thank us again for helping him and his three girls. His job is going really well, and he said that he would probably be homeless if it weren't for our help. He has been able to pay his rent on time for the past five months, and he hasn't been late on his electric bill.
